You're doing hands really well, and I like your clean, confident lines. And never despair when you see artists you're your age and who are "better". I see a whole lot of potential here!

Hee hee! That's the spirit! *slaps back* I used to suffer from massive overconfidence when I was your age.
Thanks very much! The ability to draw hands that almost look like hands came upon me quite suddenly... seriously. I drew a hand one day over the summer holidays and took out my watercolours and painted it black. A nice drow hand. And from then on... I had a better understanding of hands. It was like magic. Then I pinned it to the hotel wall, and since it was a privately owned place, the next guest probably had the benefit of getting to look at this creepy black hand... but that's, well, not something anyone cares about. Except for me, because it was weird and creepy and I thought it was hilarious.
Yeah... uh... speaking of creepy... sorry for the creepy-assed comment of yesterday (although I still really, REALLY like your stuff, both here and at Elfwood... and I will never retract my extremely enthusiastic & approving comments on Feanor's hotness ). It was late and I was tired.
I try not to let those "better" artists get me down... to be honest I don't run into them -too-often (hello, overconfidence!) and I'm pretty happy with what I can do right now.
I'm just getting started with watercolours, though... any way I could sponge advice? *grins*
Oh and by the way, I strongly encourage you to do more Silmarillion illustrations. Hehehe.
And I apologize once again. I have a penchant for really, really long comments... maybe because I'm pompous and long-winded. Or starved for human contact (although I don't think so). Or just too damn talkative. Or... avoiding actually doing anything constructive. Yeah, I think that must be it...
